This summer has been a hot one! Air conditioning is standard for the majority of us. If something happens with our A/C units, we will literally do whatever it takes to get it up and running normally again. At Medford Wellington Service, we want to provide you with some tips to save yourself some heartbreak (and money) by doing your own A/C maintenance.

Air Filters

Did you know that you should be replacing your air filters about every month or two? By replacing air filters this frequently, you preserve energy that your A/C unit would have to put out to get the air through the filter with the same frequency that you are used to. It also provides you with cleaner air and less cost in the long run because your system isn’t using extra energy.

Both evaporator and condenser coils can become dirty over time. Changing your air filters frequently will help keep your evaporator coils cleaner, longer. The more dirt in your evaporator coils, the less air flow for your system to produce.

Your condenser coils are more likely to get dirty faster. These are open to the conditions that are going on outside such as dust, falling leaves, or lawn clippings. It is also good practice to keep foliage back at least two or three feet from your condenser coils. Keeping your condenser coils clean helps with air flow to your home.
